RioCan currently operates only in Canada, having divested its U.S. holdings in 2016. It has 206 income producing properties and another 13 under development, 11 of which are urban intensifications where RioCan already owns the land. Only 9.1% of its space consists of traditional enclosed shopping malls as most of its properties are open-air big box/power centres. Many of its newer developments include rental residential apartments and condos, which it sells. The average age of its properties is approximately 25 years.
