BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP)

BHP BiIliton is the largest copper miner in the world, producing 1.72 million tonnes in 2023. It is also the largest and lowest-cost global producer of iron ore from its five mines in the Pilbara region in Western Australia, which produced nearly 250 million tonnes of iron ore last year.

Income Investor

BHP is amongst the lowest risk of mining companies given that all of its metallurgical and energy coal and nickel production is based in Australia. The vast majority of its iron ore and copper output is derived from mining-friendly jurisdictions in Chile, Peru, and Australia. Moreover, BHP has an excellent track record of operations and corporate governance. - Gavin Graham
