TD is the sixth largest bank in North America by total assets, number of branches, and market capitalization. It has more branches (called stores by TD) in the eastern US than in Canada and is one of the leading on-line financial firms, having merged its TD Ameritrade discount brokerage with Charles Schwab in the US in 2020, leaving it with a minority stake in Schwab.
