Calgary-based Encana was founded in 1971 and is a leading North American energy producer. It has been diversifying away from its previous 100% focus on natural gas towards combined liquids. Current production is 70% natural gas and 30% oil and liquids, but oil and liquids will account for an increasing percentage of production. Its core operating assets are located in the Eagle Ford, Permian, Montney, and Duvernay resource plays.
